A children's program designed especially for babies and toddlers (children age three and under).  LapSit is a special program that incorporates singing, rhymes, stories, and other activities that will entertain and stimulate children’s language skills.  A parent or caregiver must stay with the child for the program.

Story Tails  3:30 PM - 4:30 PM  Children Services

This week we will have Maggie here with us for StoryTails: Children Reading to Dogs.  This drop-in program is designed to help children develop confidence in reading.  Each child reads to a dog for about 15 minutes with the dog's handler sitting nearby to give reading assistance if necessary.  All dogs are certified by Therapy Dogs International. At the end of the reading session, each child will receive a bookmark with a picture of the dog that they read to.  This program provides a great opportunity for kids who need to work on reading skills and would like the opportunity to read to an animal.

Appalachian Heritage and Candle Dipping will be presented by Carolyn Mathews, retired manager of Deep Creek Lake Recreation Area. Carolyn's experience with candle dipping dates back to time spent with her grandmother! She will share her hobby with those who have pre-registered. (Limit 25)

The Accident Adult Book Club meets on the second Wednesday of each month.  Newcomers are welcome.  The book selected for October is The Art of Hearing Heartbeats by Jan-Philipp Sendker.       Regular members have been put on a hold list for copies of this book.  If you would like to be added to the list, let us know (see contact info below).

You must be pre-registered to attend this program.

On October 17th, Mark Spurrier from the DNR will give a program on owls and owl pellet dissection!  The dissection part of the program will require registration ahead at the library, and preferrance will be given to children and teens ages 7 and up.
