StoryTails  4:30 PM - 5:30 PM  Children's/Teens
Branch: Grantsville 

The Grantsville Library will hold StoryTails: Children Reading to Dogs on the second Monday of each month.

This program is designed to help children develop confidence in reading. Each child reads to a dog for 15 – 20 minutes, with the dog’s handler sitting nearby to give reading assistance if necessary. All dogs are certified by Therapy Dogs International. No registration is required, and parents are asked to remain at the library while their child is reading. The program will not take place on days when the Garrett County schools have scheduled holiday closures are closed or dismissed early due to inclement weather.

This drop-in program is designed to help children develop confidence in reading.  Each child reads to a dog for about 15 minutes with the dog's handler sitting nearby to give reading assistance if necessary.  All dogs are certified by Therapy Dogs International. At the end of the reading session, each child will receive a bookmark with a picture of the dog that they read to.  This program provides a great opportunity for kids who need to work on reading skills and would like the opportunity to read to an animal.

The Ruth Enlow Library and Garrett County Family Support Services will co-host this teen sensory and social event. This interactive, sensory friendly program will include activities specifically designed for teens that provide adaptive experiences based on multiple learning styles. The program will provide an opportunity for teens to relax, hang out and have fun, and participate in games and a craft. Video gaming will be available after the program for the teens to enjoy.

Beginning Knitting Classes  3:30 PM - 5:00 PM  Adult Services

Learn to knit at our free knitting classes taught by Edna Forsyth. Classes are open to all ages and we provide the supplies. Registration is mandatory. See the contact information below. The class meets every Thursday for 5 weeks (no class on Thanksgiving). Classes begin Oct. 26.

Walk-in-  Celebrate Maryland Stem Fest with tangrams, paper games, mazes and puzzles to take home- A new one each day! Monday October 30 through Saturday November 11 during public hours. Selection includes; paper jigsaws, mazes, logic puzzles.  Also, games available to play in library.  Library hours;  Monday & Wednesday 2-8; Tuesday & Thursday 1:30-5:30 & Saturday 9-2.

Welcome to Story Time @ the library! This program is geared for children ages 3-5. Come join us as we look, listen, sing, and play while learning through stories, crafts, and other fun activities.
LapSit  10:30 AM - 11:00 AM  Children Services
Branch: Oakland Meeting Room
A children's program designed especially for babies and toddlers (children birth to 36 months).  LapSit is a special program that incorporates singing, rhymes, stories, and other activities that will entertain and stimulate children’s language skills.  A parent or caregiver must stay and participate with the child for the program.

Children's Story Time  11:00 AM - 12:00 PM  Adult Services
Branch: Accident Accident Branch Library
The Accident Library will hold Children's Story Time on Tuesdays Sept-May (with some exceptions) from 11-12 PM. Children's Story Time is open to children ages 2-5. Join us for stories, crafts, and activities.

If school in Garrett County is cancelled due to weather, then Story Time will be cancelled. If there is a weather delay, Story Time will meet as scheduled.
