Then bring your device and come to our free class. We'll show you how to use your device with Overdrive, the library's online resource for eBooks and audiobooks. A children's program designed especially for babies and toddlers (children age three and under).  LapSit is a special program that incorporates singing, rhymes, stories, and other activities that will entertain and stimulate children’s language skills.  A parent or caregiver must stay with the child for the program.

Story Tails  3:30 PM - 4:30 PM  Children Services

This month we will have Maggie here with us for StoryTails: Children Reading to Dogs.  This program is designed to help children develop confidence in reading.  Each child reads to a dog for 15-20 minutes with the dog's handler sitting nearby to give reading assistance if necessary.  All dogs are certified by Therapy Dogs International. At the end of each reading session, each child will receive a bookmark with a picture of the dog that they read to.  This program provides a great opportunity for kids who need to work on reading skills and would like the opportunity to read to an animal.

Young Readers Club is a book discussion group for readers age nine through twelve.  The group meets on the third Tuesday of each month from September through November and January through May.
 
You must be pre-registered to attend this program.
 
Students will be provided with books that they will read and discuss with the group.  They will also enjoy a craft, game, or activity and a snack based upon themes relevant to the particular book selected for the program.  If interested please contact Deb Spurrier at 301-334-3996 ext. 104.

All home-schooled children and teens are invited to participate in programs and activities at the Accident library on the third Thursday of the month, September through May.
On February 21st, Carolyn Collen-Dubose, retired art teacher, will give a handpuppet-making workshop.  This workshop will have a limit of 20, with a sign-up sheet at the library starting in January.  Adult assistance will be needed for younger children.  Please bring adult scissors that can cut cloth and felt.
