Story Tails

Children Services Branch: Accident Accident Library This month we will have Maggie here with us for StoryTails: Children Reading to Dogs. This program is designed to help children develop confidence in reading. Each child reads to a dog for 15-20 minutes with the dog's handler sitting nearby to give reading assistance if necessary. All dogs are certified by Therapy Dogs International. At the end of each reading session, each child will receive a bookmark with a picture of the dog that they read to. This program provides a great opportunity for kids who need to work on reading skills and would like the opportunity to read to an animal.

New Moon Theater Performance

Children Services Branch: Oakland Oakland Library In honor of National Library Week, the Ruth Enlow Library, with grant money from Western Maryland Regional Library, is hosting performances of "Tall Tales of the Wild West" by New Moon Theater at various locations in the county. New Moon Theater is a touring company based in Baltimore, Maryland. Their full-time, professionally trained theater artists are dedicated to bringing exciting, imaginative live performances to children and family audiences.
New Moon Theater will be presenting "Tall Tales of the Wild West" today at the Oakland library starting at 6:30 p.m. The event is free and suitable for the entire family.
So, saddle up for this hilarious romp through American folklore and meet such heroes as the rough riding Pecos Bill, the resourceful Paul Bunyan, and the fearless Annie Christmas as they overcome impossible obstacles in their own uniquely silly ways.

NEW MOON THEATER

Young Readers' Book Club

Children Services Branch: Oakland Meeting Room
Young Readers Club is a book discussion group for readers age nine through twelve. The group meets on the third Tuesday of each month from September through November and January through May.
You must be pre-registered to attend this program.
Students will be provided with books that they will read and discuss with the group. They will also enjoy a craft, game, or activity and a snack based upon themes relevant to the particular book selected for the program. If interested please contact Deb Spurrier at 301-334-3996 ext. 104.

Accident's performance will be at Accident Elementary School on April 17th at 1:30 p.m. This performance is for Accident students only, because of space issues.
