Start Time: 6:00 PM
End Time:7:30 PM
Location:Oakland
6 North Second Street

Description: The Oakland Library will host Beth Luers, retired professor of humanities at Garrett College, for a discussion about her recently published book, Creating Light. "This book tells the story of the purpose-filled lives of three Holocaust survivors Leo Bretholz, Martin Gray, and Thomas Buergenthal and provides lessons in moving forward and brotherhood, said Luers. I will speak about how I came to know these three amazing men who have strived to make the world a more humane place when that same world tried to kill them. I also will talk about how I came to write a book, the last thing I thought I would ever do.
